Research laboratories

Immunology laboratory

Based on xMAP technology for the simultaneous detection of the more than 500 markers in suspension or on solid support, accompanied by ELISA, CLIA, and nephelometric techniques

Allow simultaneous determination of the qualitative and quantitative aspects of a large number of biomarkers, intracellular signals, cytokines,  chemokines,  and  growth  factors,  metabolic  markers,  nuclear receptors and transcription  factors, some of them for routine clinical use, others for use in research.

The laboratory include the following devices:

  • xMAP 3D technology and Microarray (on microchips)
  • automatic  analyzers for determination  with the aid of a series of techniques: ELISA, CLIA, ECLIA, nephelometry, turbidimetry,  spectrophotometry, coagulometry and aggregometry
  • complete line of electrophoresis / blotting, automatic electrophoretic system for protein separation and identification.

Cytology Laboratory

Allows, in selected cases, the histochemical analysis of tissue samples. Biopsy samples will also be investigated here, the infrastructure of the laboratory also allowing tissue component separation by laser microdissection techniques.

The laboratory include the following devices:

  • 4-laser flow cytometer
  • LASER microdissection system
  • devices for cell separation/ culture/ genetic modification/ analysis

Chromatography and mass spectrometry laboratory

The lab is equipped with LC-MS/MS QTOF triple quadrupole time of flight mass spectrometer.

QTOF detection in LC-MS/MS technique gained great popularity in biomedical research laboratories across Europe, due to its outstanding performance, being present in Romania only in few research centers. The model in the CCAMF was the first of its kind in Romania.

Molecular Biology / Genetics Laboratory

The  Next  generation sequencing technology will enable sequencing of the entire genome and/or exons in order to identify novel mutations  involved in  the  development  of some types of diseases. Patterns of genetic risk will be established through multiple approaches:

  • genetic linkage studies
  • genetic association studies
  • genome-wide association studies (GWAS)
  • a new direction is the study of non-coding RNAs.

Further substudies will be added to these in order to explore rare diseases – Pathogenetic mechanisms of consciousness disorders.

The laboratory is equipped with the latest technology:

  • automatic nucleic acid separator
  • traditional PCR and real-time qPCR systems
  • capillary electrophoresis sequencing system with 24 capillaries, with diagnostic ability d.    next generation sequencing system
  • microarray gene sequencing system
  • analysis of amplification products by electrophoresis

Microscopy laboratory

Include the following devices:

  • state-of-the-art confocal microscope
  • two fluorescence microscopes
